About The Program
The How To Start A Side Hustle Program is a hands-on entrepreneurship experience that shows students how they can turn their skills, interests and ideas into their own small business while they are still at school. Through fast-paced activities and practical business challenges, students will generate new ideas, identify potential customers and explore the foundations needed to turn an idea into a product or service.
Designed to make entrepreneurship practical and achievable, the program helps students build confidence in creativity, communication and business thinking as they develop their own side hustle concept. Along the way, students will explore branding, marketing, pricing, customer needs and minimum viable products while discovering how entrepreneurial skills can support them in school, future careers and their own business ventures.
Workshop Themes Include:
Rapid Ideation & Business Ideas Students participate in a fast-paced ideation challenge designed to generate a range of potential side hustle ideas based on problems, passions, skills and opportunities.
Customers & Business Models Students identify who their business is designed for, explore customer needs and develop a simple business model outlining how their side hustle could create value and make money.
Branding, Marketing & Pricing Students develop the foundations of their brand while exploring how they could promote, position and price their product or service for their target customer.
Minimum Viable Products & Pitching Students develop a simple version of their product or service before bringing their business idea together in a short pitch explaining what it is, who it is for and why customers would choose it.
Students can develop a completely new side hustle during the program or use the workshop to further develop an existing business idea. Longer sessions can also provide students with additional time to develop their branding, products, marketing strategies and pitches.
The program is also a great way to kick-start a new Business or Entrepreneurship unit, build cohort-wide excitement around Business as a future elective, or prepare students for an upcoming school market, enterprise day or fundraising initiative. It can also be delivered ahead of the school holidays to challenge students to turn their idea into a real holiday side project and put their new entrepreneurial skills into practice.
