About The Program
The Community Leaders Program is a hands-on leadership and innovation experience that challenges students to explore how they can create positive change within their school or local community. Through interactive workshops and collaborative challenges, students will investigate real-world issues, understand the people affected by them and develop creative initiatives designed to make a meaningful impact.
Designed to build confidence in leadership, creativity and problem-solving, the program takes students through a fast-paced design thinking process as they identify a challenge, explore the needs of their community and develop an innovative solution. Along the way, students will strengthen their communication, teamwork and critical thinking skills while discovering how young people can use leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation to turn ideas into action.
Workshop Themes Include:
Community Challenges & Leadership Students explore challenges facing their school or local community and consider the role young people can play in creating positive change.
Design Thinking & User-Centred Solutions Students investigate who is impacted by their chosen challenge and use personas, empathy and design thinking activities to better understand their needs.
Innovation & Local Impact Students explore inspiring ideas and initiatives before developing their own creative solution tailored to their community and audience.
Developing & Pitching Ideas Students bring their initiative to life by outlining how it would work, who it would support and the impact it could create before pitching their concept to peers and facilitators.
Schools can choose a specific community challenge, school priority or theme for students to explore, otherwise students can identify an issue they are passionate about and develop their own initiative to address it.
