In 2022 we had the pleasure of teaming up with the team at Deloitte to assemble a youth advisory group tasked with providing feedback on how they currently use public transport across Queensland.
At BOP we've had the pleasure of working with over 80,000 students in over 36 cities and towns across the country and around the world since we launched in 2018. Throughout this time we've been able to establish a broad education network across the state and the country with a diverse range of schools, students and educators all united by a common interest in innovation, leadership and the future of work.
This is why, when Deloitte approached us asking if we might be able to assemble a youth advisory group of young people from across the state for a virtual co-design session, we jumped at the opportunity. After working with Deloitte to create a plan and set guidelines around the co-design, the range of students they were looking for and the purpose of the exercise, we then reached out to a collective of innovative educators across the state, inviting them to nominate 2 students each to participate in the youth advisory group.
We found the co-design a brilliant opportunity to provide Deloitte with insights into how young people use public transport across the state with attendees ranging from 12-17 years in age and with locations ranging from inner city Brisbane to Gladstone, Cairns, Rockhampton and Townsville. At the same time, our students were given a unique opportunity to advocate for young people in their local community and share their voice on the transportation issues they were most passionate about solving. A number of students also loved seeing the Deloitte team in action, working to understand how they collect data and insights and asking questions around the process from there.
