The BOP Team had the privilege of delivering a 2-day Primary Business Builders workshop in collaboration with HOTA during the September school holidays as part of their Kids Take Over school holiday program. Over two action-packed days, students aged 7-12 had the opportunity to work with an expert team of BOP facilitators as they worked to build their very own business.
The two-day program kickstarted with students learning about some of the amazing young entrepreneurs doing incredible things at a young age, before diving into identifying a business idea. The facilitators led students through an 8-minute design sprint to see how many business ideas they could generate in a short amount of time. From there, students identified a business idea they were keen to work on for the duration of the program.
Over the course of two days, students worked through a number of different mini sessions to bring their business to life. They identified their target market by investigating user personas and the significance of defining their users' pain points, needs, and wants. They designed their products and services, exploring concepts such as prototyping and MVP (Minimum Viable Product).
They investigated branding principles and designed their logo and promotional materials for their brand. The students also learnt about website design and how to effectively reach their target market through different channels such as social media, local markets and their community. On the final day, students participated in a pitching workshop to assist them in learning how to pitch their idea to their parents or a local investor.
The two-day program concluded with students pitching their business idea to the group and their parents. We had such a fun time working with these students and can't wait to see their businesses grow!
