About The Resource
How will communities move over the next 50 years as transport technology rapidly evolves?
In the Future of Transport Challenge Pack, students explore how emerging transport innovations could reshape the way people and goods move through local communities, while designing practical recommendations for a more sustainable and connected future.
Working through a real-world transport challenge, students investigate autonomous vehicles, alternative transport systems and sustainable mobility solutions before developing their own future transport vision for local government. Across three structured challenge activities, students design an autonomous vehicle rollout plan, evaluate future transport infrastructure options and create an initiative that improves sustainability in current transport systems.
To support their thinking, students are introduced to three user personas representing different community needs, travel habits and frustrations. These personas encourage empathy-driven planning as students consider how transport systems must serve diverse groups including commuters, families and older residents.
Throughout the pack, students engage with curated case studies, videos and examples of transport innovations from around the world, including self-driving vehicles, hyperloop systems, hydrogen transport and future urban mobility concepts. This helps students connect emerging technologies to practical community challenges while building future-focused innovation skills.
Designed for innovation programs, project based learning and future industries education, this pack can be completed individually, delivered collaboratively, or used by teachers as the foundation for a larger unit of work. Some schools choose to offer one Industry Innovator Challenge Pack to all students, while others purchase multiple packs to allow students to choose an industry challenge that best matches their interests.
