Industry Innovation Challenge
Term Long Student Challenges That Build Skills Through Future Focused Thinking
Industry Innovation Challenges are designed to give young people the opportunity to work on a real world challenge connected to an organisation, industry, or local community, helping them build practical skills while developing ideas that respond to genuine opportunities.
Each challenge is tailored to reflect the goals of the host organisation while creating meaningful opportunities for students to explore emerging industries, future pathways and the role innovation plays in solving complex problems.
Each program begins with a full day launch event where students come together to unpack the challenge, hear from speakers, and develop their thinking before continuing to build their ideas back at school through virtual masterclasses, mentoring opportunities and guided project work delivered by the BOP team.
The program concludes with students submitting their final solutions for judging and returning for a showcase event where ideas are celebrated, prizes are awarded and host organisations can see firsthand the creativity, capability and thinking developed throughout the challenge.

What The Program Looks Like
Each Industry Innovation Challenge runs across an 8-10 week school term, combining live experiences, virtual support and team based project work that keeps students engaged while allowing schools to integrate the program into classroom learning.
Launch Day Hackathon
Students come together for a live event where they unpack the challenge, hear from speakers, form teams, and begin developing ideas.
Weekly Masterclasses
Students continue building their solutions through facilitated online sessions designed to strengthen skills and momentum.
Pitch Submission
Teams record and submit a short video pitch outlining their final solution.
Showcase Event
Students return for a final event where ideas are celebrated, top pitches are shared, and prizes are awarded.
Each program is designed in partnership with the host organisation, with flexibility to shape the challenge, speakers, mentoring opportunities and final showcase so the experience reflects your goals and the audience involved.

Designed To Deliver Impact
Each Industry Innovation Challenge is designed to create meaningful outcomes for students, schools and host organisations, with a structure that balances strong engagement, with practical learning and clear opportunities for industry connection throughout the program.
Who Participates
Industry Innovation Challenges are typically designed for students in Grades 4-10, with schools participating individually or in teams across a region. Programs can engage a single school community or bring together multiple schools depending on the scale, location, and goals of the challenge.
What's Required From The Host Organisation
Your organisation can be involved in ways that suit your capacity, from contributing speakers, mentors, judges, or site experiences through to helping shape the challenge theme and key messages. Our team manages delivery, facilitation, school communication and event coordination throughout the program.
Reporting & Outcomes
At the conclusion of the program, we provide a comprehensive wrap up report capturing key highlights, student feedback, photos, evidence of engagement and the outcomes achieved across the term. This gives your team a clear record of impact and a valuable tool for internal reporting or future planning.
Each Industry Innovation Challenge is tailored to reflect the host organisation, with themes shaped around your industry, priorities and the opportunities you want young people to explore. Past challenges have focused on areas such as sustainability, tourism, entrepreneurship and STEM, ensuring every program feels connected to the world students are preparing to enter.
