Countdown Until Launch
School Holiday Program
High School - Wednesday 8th + Thursday 9th July
Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest growing cities, gaining an additional 23,000 residence in 2018 alone. Because of this, the city is facing a series of challenges to accommodate the growing population, whilst ensuring all citizens can enjoy a high quality of life.
Our ‘Future Brisbane’ program will see St Paul’s students coming together for two days of design, planning and problem solving as they create a Future Brisbane plan to deliver to the city council.
This workshop will see students learning from a range of leading cities around the world in the fields of sustainability, technology, quality of life and infrastructure, before then applying their learning to a series of challenges currently facing Brisbane.
With the program built by engineers, entrepreneurs, community leaders and educators, this program will see students using current case studies and cutting edge industry knowledge as students develop their Future Brisbane plan.
Our Future Brisbane program has been designed for driven and passionate students wanting to learn about cities, innovation, sustainability and design. Open to students in grade 7-10, no prior experience is required and we ask that students come with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
Staying Safe While We Learn
Whilst Queensland is doing an exceptional job at crushing the curve, the safety of our learners is always our top priority for us. To ensure we're all staying safe while we learn we will only be opening these programs to students from St Paul's. In addition to this, we will be limiting student numbers for the program to a maximum of 20 students.
Finally, we will be cleaning surfaces and equipment between uses and following other directions from the Queensland Government and St Pauls to ensure we're creating a safe space for our learners.
What To Bring
Our team will be providing all materials required for challenges and activities. We ask that students provide their own morning tea and lunch each day and we will have a selection of snacks available throughout the program.
In addition to this, we ask that students bring a water bottle, and a device to work on if they wish. We will provide iPads for research, but if students have their own laptop or device they are more comfortable using, we're happy for them to bring this along.
Students will not need any prior experience for this program.
Throughout the program students will be given the opportunity to either work alone or in groups and this will be at their own discretion.
The program will be running from 9am - 3pm and students are welcome to be dropped off from 8:30am and picked up before 4:00pm each day.
